Painting is a conversation.

I don’t know where a painting is going when I begin. I make a mark, then listen. What is my authentic response? It comes from within. Where there are no words, only feelings. Color. Shape. Marks. I’m very present. It’s a free exchange. And what it whispers back connects us.

Some paintings resolve quickly. Others come back to the studio again and again. I paint over, add, remove. Earlier gestures remain as part of their history.

I photograph my paintings as they evolve. Each version is complete for that moment - a record of the conversation and the connection.
